Rock Creek Park Watershed
I will be working on the highlighted area which is part of Rock Creek Park in Washington DC.
This area is located south from the Zoo Metro Station and it is mix of residential and commercial area. The creek includes pedestrian walkways, roads, a tunnel, bridges and some improvised pathways. The area is roughly 334.4 square miles and the watershed is heavily polluted by sewage lines feeding the creek in addition to other smaller creeks that also feed Rock Creek storm rain water from the neighborhoods surrounding the creek which eventually finds its way to the Potomac River. This area floods easily during raining seasons and there are many signs that warns pedestrians with the following message "Warning, Pollution may occur during rainfall".
This is a beautiful site, a jewel of nature in the middle of the nation's capital, unfortunately, the smell of sewage in parts of the creek make the creek an unpleasant experience for its users.
